Wondering if CBD

Will Cause Mind Altering “High” Effect?

THE SHORT ANSWER IS NO! CBD is 100% non-psychoactive, meaning it does not negatively impact your mental processes or mind or day to day activities.

There is still much well founded confusion surrounding CBD Oil products and what exactly it is, and does it get you high.

Moreover, many think the Hemp plant and Marijuana plant have the same makeup because they are both in the “Cannabis” Family of plants. In this article we will explain what exactly CBD is and dispel the confusion that CBD might get you high. Also, we will discuss the differences in CBD with regards to Hemp and Marijuana Plants.

WHAT IS CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract and is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants.

The extraction process of CBD from Hemp is used to yield highly concentrated CBD oil that also contains highly nutritious elements, including the 20 amino acids including the nine essential ones, terpenes, omega healthy fatty acids, vitamins B1/B2/B3/B6, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C.

Minerals include calcium, magnesium, sulfur, copper, potassium, and phosphorus. Many people use CBD as a preventative daily supplement for maintaining overall health and wellness. While others, use CBD to help for a specific issue.

Hemp CBD vs. Marijuana CBD

CBD itself derived from Hemp or Marijuana has the exact same properties. However, the Hemp plant has low levels of THC 0.3%, as compared to 10-30% THC levels in the Marijuana Plant.

Cultivated Hemp has higher levels of CBD within the plant, usually around 30-40%, while the Marijuana plant contains much lower levels of CBD 1-4%. So it makes business sense to harvest CBD from Hemp as oppose to Marijuana, and it is legal in all 50 states to do so.

Industrial Hemp

In the US, “industrial hemp” is classified by the federal government as cannabis containing no more than 0.3% THC by dry weight. This classification was established in the 2018 Farm Bill and was refined to include hemp-sourced extracts, cannabinoids, and derivatives in the definition of hemp.

More importantly, the THC cannabinoid is the one that will produce the euphoric effect on the mind. The hemp plant only containing 0.3% of THC it would make it impossible to get high from this plant or any CBD harvested from the plant.

The bottom line is you need to get your CBD manufactured from Hemp to for it to be legal and for no “high” effect to take place. Most of the higher quality companies will take their hemp process a step further and strain out even the slightest amounts of THC from the Hemp plant.

Conversely, Hemp extracted CBD can actually lessen or neutralize the psychoactive effects of THC, depending on how much of each compound is consumed. Consequently, most people want the health benefits of cannabis without the high effect so they can maintain day to day activities as usual.

At MD Organics we have verifiable and viewable third party lab results demonstrating that all our products are THC Free.

The major confusion surrounding the “high” effect is that both Hemp and Marijuana plants come from the same family of Cannabis plants. But that is where the similarity ends. The appearance, caring, and harvesting are totally different.

Moreover, the CBD itself from both plants will not get you high nor can it. It is only when it is coupled with THC in the marijuana plant that the user could get a high effect. CBD itself actually helps counteract the effects of THC.

HOW DOES CBD WORK ANYWAY?

CBD works within your Endocannabinoid System or ECS. Newly discovered in the 1990’s by researchers exploring THC, this system has two receptors called CB1 and CB2.

These receptor sites are scattered throughout your body. CB1 receptors are mostly found in your central nervous system. CB2 receptors are mostly found in your peripheral nervous system and most of these are located in your immune system.

In fact, few people know that your body actually produces some Cannabinoids on its own. Endogenous Cannabinoids are neurotransmitters produced within our bodies that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, immune system, and elsewhere. Examples include virodhamine (OAE), n-arachidonoyl dopamine (NADA), arachidonoylglyceral (2-AG), and anadamide.

Now, how CBD works is by activating or inhibiting these receptor sites and by doing so helps to regulate many homeostasis functions. THC directly binds to these CB1 and CB2 receptors, whereas CBD indirectly targets these receptors.

For Example, look at as if CBD was a door, blocking an intruder from getting in your house, or allowing a welcomed friend into your home. By blocking bad compounds from entering your cells or allowing beneficial compounds to enter, you are allowing your body to function as it should with optimal results.

But because of our bad western diets, most people are depleted in vital nutrients in the body that CBD contains. This is where CBD benefits the user in helping for a specific issue or overall wellness.

CONCLUSION:

  • CBD itself will never get you high.
  • Only using a CBD oil from the marijuana plant could get you high.
  • THC is the cannabinoid that causes the high effect.
  • The Hemp plant produces tiny amounts (0.3%) of THC and it is why it is Federally Legal based on the 2018 Farm Bill.
  • CBD is more abundant in Hemp, while low levels are in Marijuana.
  • THC levels in Hemp are 0.3% or less, while Marijuana is 10-30%.
  • Hemp CBD is what you will want to take when choosing the CBD Oil that is best for you.
