WHAT EXACTLY IS CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol. It is one of over 110 Identified Phytocannabinoids (Plant Chemicals or Compounds) that are part of the nutrient makeup contained within the Hemp Plant.

In Addition, this member of Cannabis Sativa Family also contains numerous other beneficial vitamins and minerals, as well as all 20 amino acids, heart healthy Omegas, Flavonoids, and Terpenes.

All of these beneficial nutrients working together can only be available to the user if the extraction is Full Spectrum or Broad Spectrum. Researchers believe all of the components working together synergistically gives the user the most benefit potential than just one or two. They call this the “Entourage Effect.”

Full Spectrum is when everything is extracted including the tiny amount of THC. Broad Spectrum is when they filter out the THC, but everything else remains. Conversely, many Brands use CBD Isolate, which is only the CBD Chemical.

CANNABIS SATIVA FAMILY

For Many people this is where the most confusion and reluctance lies when pondering whether or not to give your Dog CBD Oil.

True, Hemp and Marijuana are part of the same Plant family. However, they are more like distant cousins as far as their makeup is concern.

  • Industrial Hemp is Bred for 30-40% CBD Levels
  • Marijuana Bred for 10-30% THC Levels
  • Legal Industrial Hemp has to have 0.3% or Less of THC
  • Marijuana typically only contains 1-4% CBD Levels
  • Most Reputable Brands will Strain out this 0.3% of THC
  • Growing and Harvesting Conditions are Completely different

So, no Mr. Marbles will not get high using a Hemp-Derived CBD Oil Product. Even if this tiny amount was not filtered out, it is so low that it would never cause any psychoactive affect in your Dog.

HOW CBD WORKS WITHIN YOUR DOG

Infographic of the Endocannabinoid System in DogsAll mammals have an Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This fascinating system was just discovered in the late 1980’s early 1990’s and it is responsible for all of your Homeostasis Functions in you and your dog.

This system lies all throughout your body; your skin, muscles, and most organs including your brain. This is a cell-signaling type of system with the Main Receptor sites named CB1 and CB2.

Just like you, your dog already produces its own Endocannabinoids to help with all the functions of the ECS. I.E. appetite, mood, temperature, sleep, salt and water concentrations, etc.

However, because of aging, environment, or poor nutrition, many dogs like humans are deficient in Endocannabinoids to help produce the basic functions of vitality and well-being.

That is where CBD comes in. By supplementing your dog’s lack of production, it is essentially bridging the gap and reawakening the ECS to function as it did when he or she was a puppy.

Further, (just one man’s opinion), when something is coming from an organic plant, it goes to reason that our bodies welcome it better than a synthetic prescription pill or shot.

Furthermore, these synthetic medications burden the dog’s small liver because it has to filter these lab created solutions. In addition to taxing your pets small and delicate organs, these medications also leave behind trace amounts, that build up over time.

Sad to say, but when your Dog’s Liver fails to function, it will be terminal.

WHY PEOPLE ARE GIVING CBD TO THEIR DOG & SIDE EFFECTS

People are giving Hemp CBD Oil to their dogs for a variety of reasons. The most common are for pain relief, anxiety or mood issues, or aging joints or muscles. The principle behind this is to improve your dog’s quality of life.

Side Effects:

As mentioned previously, research is still at the beginning stages, but what we know now is that side effects of cbd with dogs is minimal. The most common is that if you give too much CBD your dog, he/she might become drowsy or take a nap, the same goes for humans.

A few other side effects that have been reported thus far, have been dry mouth, and a loose stool. If you notice one of these side effects, consult with your Veterinarian and adjust the dose accordingly.

DOSAGE INSTRUCTIONS:

dog with sweater on a blue backgroundTincture Oil – Like Humans, every dog is different. What might be the correct dosage for one, might not be for another, even though both dogs might be the same breed and have the same weight and age.

We suggest to give about half a dropper full or 2-4 drops per 10 lbs of body weight, twice a day.

With the higher the mg. bottles the more CBD will be in each drop, so adjust accordingly. Obviously, if your dog is a toy poodle, then chances are a 250mg bottle would be just fine. The Bigger the Dog, the likelihood he/she will need more.

Rule of Thumb is to start small and monitor your dog. Usually you can tell after a few days if they are more playful or energetic, that the dose was effective. However, if nothing is noticed then add a few more milligrams and wait a few more days, and so on.

Application Methods:paw print

  • You can rub the oil on your fingertips and apply to your dog’s gums.
  • Squirt directly into their mouths
  • Apply the oil on treats
  • inject oil into wet food
  • Or drizzle over dry food

Remember, their bodies and organs are a lot smaller than humans.

CBD Dog Treats – We suggest 1-2 treats per 25lbs. of weight. This all depends on how much milligrams of CBD is within each treat. For example, our Dog Treats have 2mg of CBD per treat, so adjust accordingly. Write down or make a mental note of how much you are giving them.

Note: Our Dog Treats are made like our Softgels with Nanoemulsion Technology. This means the oil is pulverized down to microscopic droplets. For Mr. Marbles that means a quicker and better absorption rate.

So not as much would be needed as oppose to a standard oil. If the Brand you are buying from does not have this method than the amounts of CBD could correspond to that of the Tincture Oil.

We always advise to speak with your Veterinarian before starting on a CBD Regimen for your furry friend. With that being said, we hope this informed you as to what CBD actually is, how it works, and that it will not get your dog high.

In addition, we know that CBD is generally regarded as a safe product with little side effects. So if you are going to give the gift of CBD to your loved one just make sure it is from a reputable brand, made with U.S. Organic Hemp, and Lab Tested.
